Make a million dollar difference in the lives of the 210,000 Illinois residents living with Alzheimer’s disease! The Alzheimer’s Association – Greater Illinois Chapter is on the MOVE to raise $2 million this year for the fight against Alzheimer’s. The Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk® is the nation's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support and research – and it calls on volunteers of all ages to become champions in the fight against this fatal disease. Since 1989, Memory Walk has raised more than $260 million nationally for the cause.
Memory Walk is a community event that joins friends, family and co-workers as they walk to end Alzheimer’s. Participants typically register in teams of 10-12 and fundraise using tools supported by the Alzheimer’s Association. Our chapter will host 12 walks in 2009, but walks are held in nearly 600 locations nationwide.
The Chicago Memory Walk is a noncompetitive 5k walk around the lakefront that both starts and finishes at Montrose Avenue and the lake. Dogs on leashes are welcome, and the entire route is wheelchair and stroller friendly.
Throughout the day, please enjoy:
Live Music before and after the walk
Face painting and balloon animals
A kids zone for the whole family to enjoy
Tribute Flags to honor or remember your loved ones with Alzheimer’s
The Chicago Wolves Mascot, Skates!
The Chicago Spirit Brigade Cheerleaders
